Children

Nursery - Ages Newborn to 4

During the Sunday School hour, our youngest learners get a time to learn more about God through books, crafts and music. They are greeted by familiar faces and allowed time to play before beginning music time. They are then read a book from the “Book and Bibles for Children” list published by the Ministry with Children division of the United Methodist Discipleship Ministries. These books include family favorites such as Goodnight Moon and The Rainbow Fish as well as new favorites such as The Colt and the King and God’s Paintbrush. Following the reading of the book, our older learners in the group make a craft while our younger learners have time to play with sensory items and bins. During the worship service hour, children once again have a time in which they can play and listen to music. The worship service audio is transmitted in the nursery for both the volunteers and children to hear.

Children’s Church- Ages 5 to 5th Grade

Children begin the worship service with their parents before coming up front for a Children’s Moment with “Big John”. After the Children’s Moment, children are invited and escorted to the Children’s Church room for a time of Godly Play. Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, The Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond. Come join us!
